North Penn Squires Football

55 lb. Blue
On a cool and windy fall night, the North Pen Squires 55 lb. Blue team took on Crispin Gardens and came away with a 32-6 victory — improving the Squires to 4-1 this season.
Runs by Nolan Roberts and Jayden Cartwright on the Squires’ opening drive set up Evin Sullivan to score the first of two touchdowns in the contest.
Crispin Garden responded with a touchdown on the kickoff, going down the right sideline into the end zone.
The special teams miscue fired up the Squires and on their next possession, Julian Talley took a bootleg for 30 yards and scored the first of his three touchdowns.
The offensive line, led by center Andrew Horan and lineman Carter Liebowitz, Michael Lennon, Nino Paciente, Nolan Verespy, Issac Drossner, and Christopher Johnston continually opened big holes for all the running backs as the Squires gashed Crispin on the ground.
On defense, the Squires clamped down and held Crispin scoreless for the rest of the game. Nose tackle Sam Behr, Drew Johnston and linebackers Evan Hannings and Kaleb Paulin constantly held Crispin Gardens without a first down in the second half.

Flag
The North Penn Squires Flag team played the Plymouth Whitemarsh Spartans under the lights on Oct. 15.
The team was led on the field by captains Roman Patrone, Quinton Lauglin, Dylan Rienhard and Max Zampirri.
In the first half, quarterback Ryan Sullivan and running back Ryan Zelt both had long runs for touchdowns. Tailback Justin Egner added an extra point on a sweep around the right corner to put the Squires on top at the end of the second half 13-12.
The Squires offense consumed the clock in the second half, marching down the field with long runs from running backs Joseph Bogle, Jacob Schumacher, Dylan Reinhard, and James Mangine, who were aided by the strong blocking of Ben Freer, Roman Patrone and center Julia Kile.
Zelt added another long run for a touchdown in the second half, and Deaglan Budd took the ball on a QB sneak up the middle of the field for the extra point.
The Squires Defense was outstanding, as defensive ends Owen Johnston and Brian Karchner combined to pull 10 flags, the duo blitzing the gaps all day long.
Safety Danny Myers played a solid game preventing the Spartans from any long runs. Defensive linemen AJ Bertucci and Graham Paulumbo stuffed the middle of the field. Cornerbacks Andrew Reed and Luke Smeltzer contained the Spartan from breaking any plays around the corners. The game ended and the North Penn Squires won the game.

55 lb. Gray
The maturation of the North Penn Squires 55 lb. Gray team continued as hosted Warminster. On a team filled with rookies and players in their first year in pads, the Squires continued to grow as a team, making positive strides on both sides of the ball.
The offense, led by quarterback Michael Benedict orchestrated two impressive drives.
The offensive line, led by center Jake Federer, guards Evan Palumbo and Ryan Ulher, tackle Joey Tornetta, and end David Juarez. opened up big holes for running back Gus Ross, who had a couple big second half runs.
The defense was paced by perennial powerhouse, defensive end William Dooney and nose tackle Richie Carmody who created havoc in the trenches. Linebackers Dylan Wsolek, Matthew Buseck, and Nick Hussa also made contributions.
Cornerbacks Peyton Belton and Chris Freer shut down the Warminster passing attack. However, the play of the game came in the second half when Harry Sweitzer intercepted a pass and took the ball deep into Warminster territory.
Despite the effort North Penn lost 20-0 — falling to 1-4 on the season — in a game a lot closer than the score would indicate. The Squires’ coaches were still encouraged going into the final month of the season.

Note: The following recap was written by Towamencin Tigers U10 girls soccer team's Sophia Broadhurst.

The Towamencin Tigers U10 girls soccer travel team played in the Jack Walsh Memorial Soccer Tournament in Abington Oct. 9-10. The team played four very strong and consistent games during the tournament and took first place overall.
On Oct. 9, the Tigers played two 45-minute games. The first game, we played PSC Wildcats and won 2-0. The Tigers had a three-hour break during which time we bonded as great friends. In the second game, the Tigers played Cheltenham Blue Thunder and won 4-0 because our mighty defense would not let the ball past them.
On  Oct. 10, our team played two more 45-minute games. In the third game of the tournament, we were up against the Plymouth Predators. During this match, we really started to play “Tiger soccer” on the pitch. We were attacking the ball relentlessly and not afraid to go to the ball. The Tigers ended up winning by a shutout score of 7-0.
Finally all our hard work in practice paid off in the championship game against Valley Venom. After screaming our cheer, we took the field. Standing there with our skin tingling and hearts racing, the two strikers looked at each other and knew right away that their team could win the game. The whistle blew and the Tigers took the ball. However, the Tigers were dribbling up the field when an opponent came up and took it. We tried hard to get it back but we couldn't. Valley Venom is a very determined team and ended up scoring a goal.
Nevertheless, as we were running back up the field we heard our goalie Julie Mumford yell “Tigers don't give up” and we didn't. We came back and put in the next three goals. At the end of the game the score was 3-1 and the Tigers had won the gold.
We were jumping up and down with joy. Even though I am proud that we won the gold, I am more proud of my teammates because we played our hearts out and played as a team, and that is all that matters.
