The North Penn Squires Flag team defeated rival the Harleysville Eagles 25-20 Saturday to kickoff the Homecoming weekend.
The defense battled in the trenches all day as Levar Talley, Owen Johnston, Zach Smith, Nick D’Angelo, and Deaglán Budd combined for total of 17 flag pulls. Norm Gee got into the action with two flag pulls for major stops in the game.

Luke Cody, Kevin Pico, and Graham Palumbo continued making contributions to help the defense make plays all game long. The defense pulled a total of 29 flags during this game.
Justin Egner jump started the Squires offense with his first of two touchdowns on North Penn’s first offensive series. Patrick McGee also scored for the Squires on a 60-yard touchdown run, while Ben Freer would also add a 40-yard touchdown in the second half. Jayden Stahl in his rookie season continues his solid play in the Squires’ offensive backfield.

The North Penn’ offensive line, which includes Joseph Bogle, James Mangine, Roman Patrone, Cole Ostroff and Jacob Schumacher, held the Eagles out of the Squires backfield all day.
The Squires flag team has eight wins for the season with one game remaining. The final game of the season will be next Saturday when North Penn Squires host the 2011 Flag Day Tournament with 12 participating teams and over 225 players competing on Saturday, Nov. 19.

North Penn 27, Ambler-Whitpain 13
The North Penn Squires flag team dominated the Ambler-Whitpain Trojans in a 27-13 victory last Wednesday night.
The Squires scored four touchdowns, with Justin Egner have two and James Mangine and Patrick McGee each with one. Owen Johnston and Deaglán Budd scored a combined total of three extra points.
The game was highlighted by impressive offensive contributions by Jacob Schumacher, Roman Patrone, Ben Freer, Kevin Pico, Zach Smith and a 48-yard pass play from Egner to Mangine that set up the second score of the game.
The offense was unstoppable once again as Cole Ostoff, Jayden Stahl, Quinton Lauglin, and Graham Palumbo owned the offensive line against the Trojans.
The Squires defense pitched a first half shutout, and pulled a total of 27 flags during the game. Budd, and Egner ante Levar Talley each pulled six flags each. Nick D’Angelo pulled three flags from the corner position to keep the Trojans off the scoreboard. Norm Gee played a solid game as starting right side linebacker to support his teammates.
