MUSC U10 Lightning finalists at Hempfield Fall Classic

The Montgomery United Soccer Club U10 Lightning girls soccer team was recently a finalist at the 25th annual Hempfield Fall Classic Nov. 20-21 in Lancaster.  The Lightning won their first three games, besting Henlopen, N.J. (2-1), Harleysville (4-1) and Litiz (5-0) with seven different players collecting a goal. The results sent the Lightning to the finals, where they dropped a hard-fought 3-1 decision to Spirit United Barcelona.

The Lightning also claimed fist place in the Inter-County Soccer League this fall with an 8-0-2 record.

Students of Mark Cashatt's Taekwon-Do School of Souderton promoted

Students of Mark Cashatt's Taekwon-Do School, Inc. in Souderton were promoted by the United Taekwon-Do Federation on Saturday, Nov. 20.

PA Rush U8 Swoosh win UJSL Columbus Cup Tournament

The PA Rush U8 Swoosh boys soccer team won the UJSL Columbus Cup Tournament.
The Rush opened with an 8-0 victory over PSC Future No. 2, then under the lights played Feltonville to a 0-0 tie. The following morning, PA Rush bested the Lansing Hooligans 9-0, followed by a 1-0 win over the Torresdale Sting to finish round-robin play.
With PA Rush tied with Feltonville for first and the teams' matchup ending in a draw, the Rush earned the championship based on goals allowed.

Montgomery United Soccer Club U18 Girls ENVY were finalists in the 2010 Colleen Reilly Memorial Soccer Tournament in Horsham.

St. Stanislaus CYO varsity soccer team wins Region 20 championship

The St. Stanislaus CYO varsity soccer team claimed its third consecutive Region 20 championship with a 3-0 victory over St. Rose of Lima in the championship game. St. Stans proceeded to best Presentation BVM 1-0 in the first round of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia tournament before falling to St. Albert's on penalty kicks after the sides tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime.

St. Stanislaus has gone undefeated in Region 20 play the past two seasons, finishing 2010 with a 12-0 record, outscoring opponents 32-5 and posting nine shutouts.

U-10 Montgomery United Spirit win Deep Run Labor Day Tournament

The U-10 Montgomery United Spirit girls soccer team recently won the Deep Run Labor Day Tournament. The Spirit went undefeated in their three games, scoring 12 goals while only allowing one.

The Spirit were also recently crowned the Champions of their Division of the Inter County Soccer League. They opened the season with a 0-0 tie then proceeded to win the next nine.  The Spirit scored a division-high 29 goals, while allowing a division-low six goals.

Lansdale Cannoneers Jr. Pee Wee wins Pop Warner Division 2 Bux-Mont title

The Lansdale Cannoneers Junior Pee Wee (105-pound) football team won the Pop Warner Division 2 Bux-Mont Junior Pee Wee Championship Game 28-0 over the Methacton Wolverines at Palisades High School.

The Cannoneers advanced to the Eastern Region players, where they beat the Southwest Colts (Rochester, N.Y.) 6-0 and then the Enon Eagles (Philadelphia) 30-0. Lansdale has two more games to earn the opportunity to play in the Pop Warner National Championship games.

Dylan Luscombe wins Eagles Punt, Pass and Kick 6-to-7 Boys Divison

On Oct. 17,  Dylan Luscombe, a member of the Souderton Braves 70-pound football team, took first place in the Philadelphia Eagles Punt, Pass and Kick 6-to-7 Boys division.
Luscombe was honored for his achievements at the Eagles' game against the Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field.
In August, Luscombe took first at a local Punt, Pass and Kick event in Souderton, then won districts held at Pennridge to advance to the finals, held at the Eagles' NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia.
If Luscombe's score is in the top four among the 32 team winners in his age group, he will have the chance to represent the Eagles at the Punt, Pass and Kick national finals held in January.

Towamencin Soccer Club Timberwolves U8 Girls take third at Upper Moreland Select Soccer Tournament

The Towamencin Soccer Club (TSC) Timberwolves U8 Girls soccer team opened its inaugural season with a third place finish at the Upper Moreland Select Soccer Tournament.

Montgomery United Arensal U-11 Boys take first at Moorestown Labor Day Tournament

The Montgomery United Arsenal U-11 Boys soccer team recently competed in the Moorestown Labor Day Tournament. The Arsenal won all three games they plaed, defeating the Hainesport Spartans 4-0, the Delran Avengers 3-0 and in the final bested the Cherry Hill FC Vipers 5-3.

Montgomery United Furty U-13 Boys take first at Moorestown Labor Day Tournament

The Montgomery United Fury U-13 Boys soccer team took first place in the Moorestown Labor Day Tournament.  The Fury defeated a team from Burlington 3-0, the Glassboro Blackhawks 3-1 and in the final against the host Moorestown Union earned a 6-2 win.

HFC Premier U12 Boys win DELCO D3 League Championship

The Harleysville Football Club (HFC) Premier U12 Boys soccer team, coached by Tom Quintois, claimed the 2010 DELCO D3 League Championship.

Mark Cashatt's Taekwon-Do School students smash pumpkins on Junior Black Belt Night



Students from Mark Cashatt’s Taekwon-Do School, Inc. from Souderton held a Junior Black Belt Night, with the finale being “Smashing Pumpkins!” Each student brought at least one “recycled, carved pumpkin” and proceeded to smash with their Taekwon-Do hand strikes and kicks.

Towamencin Hurricanes U8 Select Girls A second at SISL'R Slam

The Towamencin Hurricanes U8 Select Girls A team came in second place in the first-ever tournament, the SISL’R Slam on Nov. 6 in Souderton.

North Penn/K&M Boys win Middle School Water Polo League Championship

The North Penn/K&M boys team (pictured) won the 2010 Middle School Water Polo League Championship on Oct. 24, defeating Pittsburgh in the final. The girls teams bested Governor Mifflin to claim third place. Selected to the All-Tournament team for the North Penn boys were Shane Hennessey (eighth grade) and Skyler Trautz (eighth grade) and for the North Penn girls Leah Brown (seventh grade) and Steph Galetta (eighth grade).

MUSC U10 Lightning win Western Lehigh Columbus Day Weekend Tournament

The Montgomery United Soccer Club U10 Lightning girls soccer team  won the championship of the Western Lehigh Columbus Day Weekend Tournament on Oct. 9-10, claiming victories in all four games as it played teams as far away as Long Island. The Lightning surrendered just one goal in the tournament.
