North Penn Squires Football

The North Penn Squires flag football Team played rival Harleysville Eagles last Friday night. The Squires were led on the field by captains Jacob Schumacher, James Mangine, Joseph Bogle, and Justin Egner in way ended a 31-20 victory for North Penn.
Justin Egner took off for his first touchdown behind lineman James Mangine and Joseph Bogle. On defense, after flag pulls by Owen Johnston and Deaglan Budd; safety Patrick McGee intercepted an Eagles’ pass attempt. Ben Freer proceeded to break a 60-yard score down the NP sideline. Egner added another touchdown as the offensive line that included Cole Ostroff, Graham Paumbo and shotgun center Quinton Laughlin held tough to help North Penn lead 16-13 at halftime.
In the second half, the NP defense stood its ground and pulled many game-saving flags including the following flag pulling stats — Budd (6), Johnston (5), McGee (5), Zack Smith (2), and one flag pull each by Freer, James Bones, Jacob Schumacher, Nick D’Angelo, Kevin Pico, Norm Gee and Levar Talley.
Egner scored another touchdown, breaking loose for his third 30-yard plus score of the game. Jayden Stahl added the extra point with a 3-yard run behind the blocking of Roman Patrone and Luke Cody. After the an Eagles’ score, Egner connected with Freer for a 60-yard screen pass. Zack Smith then rumbled 25 yards into the end zone for the fifth Squires touchdown.
On Oct. 2, the North Penn Squires flag team faced off vs. the Norristown Bandits. The Squires captains for the week were Quinton Laughlin, Roman Patrone, Patrick Mcgee, and Nick D’Angelo as North Penn fell 24-12 to the Bandits.
Tthe Squires marchd down to the Bandits 15 on their first possession, but turned the ball over downs. The North penn defense fought hard all day and never gave up, with flag pulls by McGee (2 flags), Zack Smith (5 flags), Owen Johnston (6), Deaglan Budd (4), Nick D’Angelo (3), Ben Freer (2) and Justin Egner (2).
On the Squires second possession, after runs by Freer and Jayden Stahl, Egner took off along the Squires’ sideline behind the blocking of Norm gee and Graham Palumbo to tie the game 6-6. At halftime the Bandits led 12-6.
Norristown received the ball first in the second half and scored a touchdown  after battling through the Squires defense that included Kevin Pico and Levar Talley. The fleet-footed Egner went on to score another touchdown with major blocks on the line by James Mangine and Roman Patrone that kept the pursuing Bandits out of the Squires backfield. Norristown proceeded to score a touchdown to put the game out of NP’s reach.
