Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball
Opening Day April 21
The 2012 Nor-Gwyn season begins on Saturday, April 21 with several baseball, softball, and T-Ball games. The annual Opening Day player parade and ceremony will immediately precede the games at 10:30 a.m. sharp. The ceremony will be held on the Bachman-Jasinski Field at the Nor-Gwyn Complex on Hancock Rd. in Upper Gwynedd Township. Everyone is invited to come out to celebrate the start of the new season.
The ceremony will include remarks by Nor-Gwyn officials and presentations of the Ben Hostelley Scholarship and Larry Meyers Coach-of-the-Year awards. State and local government officials are scheduled to be on-hand, including State Senator Stewart Greenleaf. The ceremony also includes the ceremonial first baseball and softball pitches. All Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball players and coaches are invited to participate in the ceremony by assembling behind the Bachman-Jasinski Field outfield fence in full uniform promptly at 10:15 a.m. Players and coaches will line-up and parade onto Bachman-Jasinski Field by team to start the ceremony.
The rain date for the ceremony is Sunday, April 22 at 12:15 p.m. If weather or field conditions require postponement, a message will be posted on the Nor-Gwyn answering service ((267) 217-2567) after 9:30 a.m.

Raffle Tickets: each player must sell 15 tickets at $5 each. You pay this up front and you keep the money. For two or more players you must sell 30 tickets at $5 each. So if you sell your raffle tickets you would only pay $50.

North Penn Eclipse Softball

The North Penn Eclipse Girls 14U Travel Softball, located in Lansdale  is seeking to fill two roster positions for its 2012 Spring/Summer season.  The team is seeking both an experienced pitcher and a catcher.

Horsham Little League Challenger Baseball
Registration is now underway for Horsham Little League Challenger baseball, for players with physical or mental disabilities.
Non-competitive games are held on Saturday mornings and alternating Tuesday and Thursday evenings from mid-April until early June at Deep Meadow Park, on Route 463 in Horsham.

Starting 9 Baseball Camp
We focus on teaching the basic fundamental baseball skills needed to be competitive on and off the field. Each camper will leave camp with improved knowledge of the game and a variety of drills they can practice on their own. Our goal for each day is that every camper will improve their skills while having fun. I look forward to seeing you this summer.
Each player will receive a camp T-shirt.
Awards will be presented at a ceremony the last day of camp.

North Penn Junior Knights Baseball Camp
North Penn Junior Knights Baseball Camp
Monday, June 25-Friday, June 29
9am-noon – Nor-Gwyn Baseball Complex across from Gwyn Nor Elementary School, 139 Hancock Street, North Wales.
All players attending this camp will get well-rounded instruction in all areas of the game of baseball. Younger players will focus on fun activities intended to learn fundamentals and to decrease the chance of injury in the sport. Older players will focus on more intensive, higher level baseball fundamentals and skills. All players should finish the week long camp with improved skills and a greater respect for the game. Water will be provided. Campers may bring their own snacks and drinks if desired.
All campers will receive a free t-shirt.
Please indicate size on the registration form. Each camper should bring a baseball glove, hat, towel and bat. Cleats and spikes can be used.
Instruction provided by the North Penn Knights coaching staff and players.

Warrior Baseball and Softball Camp
A baseball and softball camp will be made available to area youth through camp director Frank Decembrino, head varsity baseball coach at Cheltenham High School, alongside Methacton High School baseball and softball coaches and former players. Warrior Baseball and Softball camp will be held from July 23-26 and July 30-Aug. 2 for children between the ages of 6-15. The camp will take place at the ARA field at the intersection of Audubon Road and Pawlings Road in Audubon. The camp will take place each day from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
This camp will be geared towards players of all abilities. We will focus on skill development, proper sportsmanship and rules of the game and position play. Each afternoon, age-appropriate League Play will take place, with a champion being crowned from each age group on Thursday afternoon. There will be awards given to the kids throughout the week, with an awards ceremony on Thursday afternoon of both weeks.
The staff is loaded with tremendous coaches with great knowledge of the game, and the passion  and ability it takes to work with children of all skill levels. Our guests include professional baseball players and college level coaches, who will add great knowledge and experience to the camp. The camp promises to provide the kids with safe, fun and effective weeks of baseball and softball instruction.

Third Annual Five and Dime Race

ICE HOCKEY
North Penn Ice Hockey Spring League
North Penn Ice Hockey Association is proud to present its 2012 Spring Leagues. We will offer Varsity, JV and Middle School teams. Current 8th graders will have to play at the High School level and Middle School will be current 4th through 7th graders.  Current 12th graders are not eligible to play.
Play begins the second week of April and runs through the middle of June.  The varsity schedule will only run into May.  The League includes 10 games, two full-ice practice slots, a mid-season All Star Game and playoffs for the top four teams in each division.
Cost will be $325.00 for all players, with $100 of this cost being applied to the player’s 2012-2013 North Penn Ice Hockey Registration, if registered by Aug. 1.

RunWalkBark4Dreams
The RunWalkBark4Dreams will be held Saturday, June 9 at Tyler State Park in Newtown.  5K run and two-mile Fun Walk/Jog. Run is a US Track and Field certified course.

Marsh Creek Raptor Run
The Marsh Creek Raptor Run, five mile and 10 mile trail races, Sunday, July 29, 9 a.m., Marsh Creek State Park, Downingtown.
Race Sponsor: Malvern Veterinary Hospital, Malvern.
Proceeds from the race will help provide environmental education programs for special needs and underprivileged children, including camp scholarships, and support the Birds of Prey Center, a home for permanently injured raptors that have come in from various rehabilitation facilities.
Trail Run Course: Beautiful scenic lakefront trails. Breathtaking lake views throughout the race. Shaded rustic trail with sizes ranging from single track to quadra-track. Great race for beginnings with enough technical challenges to keep experts on their toes as well. Forest, rolling hills, grassy meadows, messy mud holes, downed trees, this race has it all.
Others reasons to enter: Water stops every 2.5 miles on trail run, lots of post race food, vendors, full results posted on the internet about 2-3 days after the race, instant results posted at race, some mile markers, digital clock at race finish, modern bathrooms, well marked trail, nearby parking, benefits a great cause. Also, the race is a five mile loop, with all runners starting at the same time. Decide if you want to finish in the five mile race or the 10 mile race at any time during the first loop.
Awards: For each race, the five mile and 10 mile trail runs — first and second overall male and female in each race plus the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups — 16-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.
Entry/Registration: Race starts at 9 a.m.; registration in tent at south entrance from 7:45-8:45 a.m. (follow signs to registration). Fee is $25 for either race if postmarked by July 22, includes a short sleeve T-shirt; $30 after cutoff including day of race while shirts last; $25 after they are gone. A limited number of extra shirts will be printed so please try to pre-enter. No mailing of shirts or awards, no refunds.
Race goes on rain or shine. May delay race start “If lightning.” Must be at least 14 years old to enter the trail run. Important note: If you are planning on participating in the 10 mile race, you must finish the first five mile loop within one hour, 15 minutes.

SOAP BOX DERBY
Indian Valley Soap Box Association
The Indian Valley Soap Box Association will be holding it’s annual All-American Soap Box Derby race down Main Street in Souderton on Saturday, June 2.  It’s not to late to enter as a driver or to sponsor a soap box derby car.  The winners of this year’s race will earn a chance to compete in the All American Soap Box Derby World Championships in Akron, Ohio on July 21.
If you are interested racing, please come to our meetings being held at the Souderton Borough Building located on Summit Street on April 9 and May 14.  All meetings are on Mondays at 7:30 p.m..

Beginner Youth Golf Clinic
Sweet Water Golf Course is offering a clinic for beginner youth golfers (Ages 9-14).   Classes will be held on Saturday mornings for 6 weeks starting April 14th from 10-11 am.  Deadline for sign ups is April 11. Classes will be conducted by:  Dave Elchin  Class “A” PGA Professional. Maximum class size is 12 students.
The cost for six weeks is $70 for 1st child, $60 for second sibling and $50 for third sibling. No clubs are needed to join the clinic, clubs will be provided if you don’t have any

Spring Match Play
Sweet Water Golf Course will be holding 9-Hole Spring Match Play starting Monday, April 16.  Deadline for sign ups is Friday, April 13.  Entry fee is $15 per person plus a score card and/or average for 9 holes.  9-Hole matches will be played within a two week period, play until you lose twice.  Green/cart fees are not included.  For more information call the pro shop at (215) 541-3111 and reserve your spot with a credit card.
