Yancey sisters medal at Junior Olympic East National Diving Championships
Kianna Yancey, age 9 and her 8-year-old sister Kayla Yancey won a total of three medals at the Junior Olympic East National Diving Championships, held at the University of Tenneesse April 7-10 in Knoxville.
The competition featured over 200 of the best divers from around the country, with the girls, representing the Imaginary Dive Club and Montgomery County Sports Performance Center, performing extremely well despite being two years younger than most of their fellow divers.
In the 11-and-Under Girls Division, Kianna Yancey placed seventh in the one-meter board and ninth on the three-meter. Kaya Yancey placed ninth on the one-meter.
Several other divers from our area also participated, including: 8-year-old Madalyn Freece, 12-year-old Ian Boland Bintner, 13-year-old Marie Yacopino,14-year-old Megan Berardelli and 15-year old Dylan Yurasits.
