Holly Grosse qualifies for ESA Northeast Regional Surfing Championships
Holly Grosse, an 11-year-old from Lansdale, earned an invitation to compete in the 2011 Eastern Surfing Association (ESA) Northeast Regional Surfing Championships, to held April 29-May 1 in Newport, R.I.
Grosse, who attends St. Juse Elementary School in Chalfont, will reprsent the ESA South Jersey District, which she has surfed in since she was eight, and qualified for regionals by amassing 2,430 points during the district's 2010 surfing contest season. Grosse is competing at regionals in the Girls 14-and-Under Division, with the top three advancing to the East Coast Finals at Cape Hatteras, N.C. in September.
Grosse is the daughter of Jeff and Hope Grosse of Lansdale. Her sister, Veronica Grosse, was ranked third in the same girls division in 2008 at age 12, that year winning the annual Peck's Beach contest in Ocean City, N.J., where the family resides during the summer.
