MUSC U13 Black Magic win Spirit United Tournament's Premier Division
The MUSC’s U13 girls soccer premier team, the Black Magic, won the Premier Division of the prestigious Spirit United Tournament. The Black Magic defeated the Amity Blue Lightning (5-1), the Washington Township SA Wave (1-0), the AC Perugia USA Grifos (2-0) in the semifinals and FC Lehigh 1-0 in the finals on a Sydnee Towns goal in the second overtime. Kristina Miller assist on the championship-clinching goal.

In the first game Jenny Sheppard scored twice, with Jani Johnston, Sarah Walker and Towns adding goals in the victory. Maria Thomas scored the only goal against Washington Township. In the semis, Thomas scored twice on direct kicks.
Aneliese Jennings was solid in goal all weekend. The defense was led by Erica DeCandido, Kelsey Burns, Jorden Johnson and Jani Johnston. Playing at the midfield and striker positions were Maria Thomas, Hannah Alexander, Megan Swintosky, Shelby Chiodo, Kate Diveny, Kristina Miller, Jenna Silverman and Julianne LaSanta.
A week earlier, the Black Magic went undefeated in the Colleen Reilly Tournament, but placed second to the Freehold SLWarrington SC Freedom 2-0, tied the USTA Strikers 1-1, downed the Ukrainian Nationals 3-1 and defeated Pearls Pride 1-0 in a rain-shortened contest. The Black Magic and Freehold SL Spirit finished the tournament with the same number of points, but Freehold was named the winner based on goal differential.
