Three NPAC swimmers qualify for Eastern Zone All Star Meet



The North Penn Aquatic Club has three swimmers competing at the Eastern Zone Short Course All Star Meet  in Rochester, N.Y. March 29-31. Claudia Thamm (10-and-under), Spencer Nice (12-and-under) and Megan Zartman (12-and-under) qualify by placing in the top percentage at the Middle Atlantic Swimming Junior Olympic Age Group Championships in Sewell, N.J. March 8-11.


Thamm was also the high point winner for 10-and-under girls at the Junior Olympic meet.

NPAC sends 28 swimmers to Junior Olympics



The North Penn Aquatic Club sent 28 swimmers to the Middle Athletics Swimming Junior Olympic Age Group Championships, held at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell, N.J. on March 8-11.  Four of its 8-and-under swimmers will attend the mini’s championship meet on March 19- 20.

Paige Burrell leads NPAC at Suburban Aquatic League Diving Championships


Paige Burrell, an 11-year-oid resident of Towamencin Township, set a new Suburban Aquatic League Diving Championship record for the 11-and-under girls division at the League Diving Championships on Feb. 11 at Central Bucks South. Burrell, representing North Penn Aquatic Club, placed first out of 130 girls with a score of 180.35.

Also for NPAC in the 11-and-under division, Kianna Yancey (age 10) was second, Kayla Yancey (age 9) was third), Maureen Boland Bintner (age 10) was fifth and Diana James (age 10) was sixth. In the girls 12-14 division, NPAC's Marie Yacopino placed first, followed by teammate Madison Tanis. Many of these divers are preparing for the Junior Olympic Spring Regional Competition to be held at the University of Akron March 16-18.

Montgomery County Sports Performance gymansts shine at Sunsplash Invitational


Montgomery County Sports Performance Center gymnasts Kayla and Kianna Yancey from Nor-Gwyn Diving (North Penn School District), Paige Burrell  from Towamencin Diving (North Penn School District) and Nicholas Marino from Nor-Gwyn Diving (Hatboro-Horsham School District) all had strong performances at the Nor-Gwyn Swim Club Third Annual Sunsplash Invitational on July 17.

Spence Nice to compete at Eastern Zone Swimming Championships

Spencer Nice, age 10, of the Souderton swim team, will be competing at the 2011 Eastern Zone Swimming Short Course Age Group Championship March 31-April 2 in Webster, N.Y., just east of Rochester.

Nice broke five team records this season: 50 fly, 50 breast, 50 back, 100 free and 100 individual medley. He set a new Suburban Aquatic League record in the 50 breast with a time of 34.32 at the SAL Championships on Feb. 6 at La Salle University.

At the Middle Atlantic Junior Olympics in March, Nice broke a Junior Olympic record in winning the 100 breast in a time of 1:13.00. He finished the meet with eight overall medals (four first place, one second, two third and one fifth).

Ranked nationally in both the 100 breast (third) and 50 breast (fourth), Nice also swim for the Souderton Aquatic Club and has been training for the zone met and Junior Olympics with the North Penn Aquatic Club.

North Penn Aquatic Club sends 27 to Middle Atlantic Junior Olympics

The North Penn Aquatic Club sent 27 members to the Middle Atlantic Swimming Junior Olympic Age Group Championships March 10-13 at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell, N.J.
