Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball Opening Day
On April 17, Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball helds it opening day ceremonies at its complex on Hancock Road in Upper Gwynedd Township. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Ben Hostelley Memorial Scholarship recipient Ryan Moran’s parents (left) thank the scholarship trustees Ron Erb (second to right) and Steve Daley (far right) at Nor-Gwyn’s Opening Day Ceremony on Sat. April 17. Named in honor of one of Nor-Gwyn’s founders, Gerald (Ben) Hostelley, the scholarship is awarded each year to a Nor-Gwyn veteran player.
The Opening Day player handshake: 12-year old veterans show the 5-year old rookies the post-game handshake. The veteran-rookie handshake has become an annual tradition at the ceremonies.
The ceremonial first baseball pitch was thrown by Upper Gwynedd Township Commissioners President Ken Kroberger (left) and the first softball pitch was thrown by Nor-Gwyn’s Larry B. Meyers Memorial Coach of the Year recipient Kelly Houlihan (right) to officially open Nor-Gwyn’s 2010 season.
Eric Rosenblatt of the Metal Edge International Red Sox (second from left) caught the baseball pitch and Sam Hencken of the Smith Insurance, Inc. Heat (second from right) caught the softball pitch. Joining them in the center is Nor-Gwyn’s mascot, the Hawk.
Renee Furtado, North Wales resident and long time Nor-Gwyn parent, sings the National Anthem.
